Detached, emotive, quiet, energetic, wistful, playful, folksy, and spiked with punkish enthusiasm, If You're Feeling Sinister is a thing of delirious beauty and hypnotic power. Its songs are full of irresistible hooks and languid poetry, with sumptuous, dreamy melodies unfurling beneath smartly delicate (and snidely decadent, although that part isn't as pronounced) vocals. The whole thing sounds like an uncanny cross-pollination of the Smiths and Simon & Garfunkel, shot through with strains of the Beach Boys and the Velvet Underground (think "Pale Blue Eyes"). It's a smokey, gentle record full of nervous majesty and two-faced poetry, a half-awake dream that rings with humor and warmth.

This album is full of charm with it's wonderful strings, gorgeous instrumental flourishes and keyboards.
Blonde Redhead has found their true sound with 'Misery Is A Butterfly' - Darkly romantic and atmospheric, a kind of sadness in some ways.
If you are new to Blonde Redhead I suggest getting this one first. It is better then earlier 90s releases of theirs.

Saturdays = Youth, M83's fifth studio album was released on April 15, 2008 on Mute Records. It was recorded with Ken Thomas (known for his work with Sigur Rós, The Sugarcubes, Boys in a Band, Cocteau Twins and Suede), Ewan Pearson (who has also produced for Tracey Thorn, The Rapture and Ladytron) and Morgan Kibby (of The Romanovs) The album is said to deliver the rich sonic textures for which M83 is well known, but with a more focused approach to song structure and form. "Couleurs" was the first single from the new album, released to digital retailers on February 25, 2008. The album's second single, "Graveyard Girl," was released to digital retailers on April 8, 2008 and comes with an exclusive remix from Yuksek.

The Dear's debut is a very different beast to their followup album. While they sounded a little like a funkier Snow Patrol jr in Gang Of Losers, here they go for something a little more... orchestral. And it's something very special indeed.You can see the much bigger sights of No Cities Left at a glance of the tracklist: of the 12 tracks, 7 are approaching 6 minutes long. 3 of them are nearly 8 minutes! Clearly, they have a lot more to stuff into their music, here. And yet, far from sounding sparse and over-long, the tracks all glide by as if they were a minute long each. And that is always a sign that what you have is doing alright for itself.And it's not just the lengths: here you won't just find the piano-guitar-drums-vocals that you could get used to from their sophomore album. It's strings and synths and entire choirs and even theremins and just about everything-a-plenty, here, all helping to make each song a little bit louder and a little bit more dramatic. Clearly, they didn't want any expenses spared to make this album as big as it could possibly be. Tanks for Mike.

Andrew Bird (born July 11, 1973) is an American musician. He was born in Illinois and resides in the Chicago area. Bird is a singer-songwriter, a violinist and, since 2004, a guitarist. He also is an accomplished whistler.His early work, which echoed of gypsy jazz and traditional folk, has led into his current sound, which mixes rock with more broad compositions. His years of solo song-craft have now enabled him to produce a sound that is uniquely his own.

Stars are a pop band who sound best on a rock equalizer setting. They aren't loud and don't need to be-- their third and best album, Set Yourself on Fire, is a great example of sonic efficiency. Its songs are packed like a Geo Tracker for a cross-country road trip, yet nothing gets crushed or stuffed or buried. It might be the best orchestral pop album of 2004, only it doesn't sound orchestral, at least not according to the outsize string-and-reverb model favored by bands like Oasis or Spiritualized. If you find me a recent album that towers higher with fodder so virtuosically managed and manipulated, I'll give you 20 dollars and jump in a foreboding body of water from a height.

Set Yourself on Fire is about breaking up and breaking down, and as such the album feels wontedly cathartic, like the moments right after you hit your emotional nadir and start getting your shit together.

Before they became "the Creep band" they recorded this demo that shows clearly the path they would take. Unfortunately, most of this tracks were left out of Pablo Honey(in my opinion some of them are better than other songs of PB). Enjoy it!

This is one of my favorite discs because finally I can say that this band if silk luxury of being completely independent since the case came to play at a cultural center in Mexico without charging a single weiesght, their music is aggressive and at the same time depressive.
